We support people with humanitarian aid if we find them in crisis. BBP accompanies our participants as they adjust to life in a new country with gender affirming care, assistance with housing, and other needs as they acclimatize and move towards independence in the United States. Many of our clients arrive in crisis and may be experiencing trauma, so we offer a compassionate and supportive environment where they can find immediate relief and assistance. Our approach is rooted in dignity and respect for queer and trans lives, empowering participants to regain stability and start rebuilding their lives with the support they need.
Legal Services
We offer critical access to accurate legal information and resources, assisting participants in navigating the complex and inaccessible immigration system both abroad and in the United States. In addition to direct representation, our legal services include one-on-one consultations with attorneys, informational clinics, pro se support, attorney referrals and connections and resources that demystify the legal process, helping clients understand and navigate their rights and options within the Americas. By equipping individuals with the knowledge and support they need, we empower them to advocate for themselves and make informed decisions about their futures with the support of counsel.
Community Organizing
BBP actively fosters community building by providing advocacy and organizing opportunities for participants. We create spaces where individuals can come together, share their experiences and collectively address the challenges they face as queer and trans BIPOC migrants. Through workshops, training sessions, and collaborative initiatives, we encourage participants to engage in grassroots organizing and advocacy efforts, strengthening their voices and fostering solidarity within the community.
Policy Advocacy
Drawing on our unique and comprehensive understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ migrants, BBP is committed to informing advocacy for humane and just policies and practices. We participate in coalition meetings and collaborate with other organizations to advocate for systemic change. By amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals and sharing their stories, alongside crucial reporting and statistics that inform stakeholder decision-making, we aim to shape policies that promote equity, dignity and respect for all trans and queer BIPOC migrants ensuring that their needs are recognized and addressed within the broader immigration framework and political landscape.
